PinnTuff Toughened safety glass

Toughened safety glass

PinnTuff is toughened glass: cut, edged and drilled to your drawing, then heated and quenched so it is stronger than ordinary glass and breaks into small pieces.

Why choose it

  • Stronger than annealed glass of the same thickness
  • Breaks into small pieces rather than long shards
  • Cut-outs, holes and notches made before tempering

Typical uses

  • Shower enclosures
  • Doors and partitions
  • Balustrade infill
  • Shopfronts and facades
  • Furniture and shelving

How it is processed

  1. Step 1

    Cut and edge

Glass is cut to size and edges are finished to the drawing.

  2. Step 2

    Hole and notch

Any holes, notches or cut-outs are made while the glass is still annealed.

  3. Step 3

    Temper

Panes are heated, then cooled quickly with air in the tempering line.

  4. Step 4

    Check and pack

Panes are inspected for size and visible defects before dispatch.

Toughened glass cannot be cut or drilled after tempering, so final dimensions must be confirmed first.
